Every year, Tourism Toronto presents a "Presidents' Award" to recognize organizations and individuals outside the tourism sector that have helped to create an improved business environment for the tourist and meeting industry.
This year, this award went to Graffiti Alley for giving "canvas and colour to the spaces in between"! The Laneway Project, the Queen West BIA, the Garment District Neighbourhood Association and a representative of laneway artists were presented with the award on November 9th at the Tourism Toronto AGM.
Receiving the award was big honour for The Laneway Project. Although we're just a small part of all the great things happening in Graffiti Alley, our summer event Layers of Rush Lane was a big success and brought out more than 2000 people to Graffiti Alley from Toronto and beyond. In recognition of the important role the graffiti artists themselves have played in making this a unique tourist destination, the award now lives with the artist community at the Toronto Collective.
